Vote! Asiago stuffed smoked turkey burgers!

Materbuilt electric smoker

Today I am going to let the food do the #virtual #smokeoff talking.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Yesterday I lovingly soaked rustic apple wood chips until peak perfection and warmed up my Masterbuilt electric smoker to 275 degrees.

Back in my kitchen, I went.

Grating with broad strokes, fresh grated Italian Asiago cheese lightly landing in a large mixing bowl, its savory sweetness taunting me.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Chopping, chopping, chopping whole baby portabella mushrooms until they barely resembled its former state. Yes, they begged me to let them join the Asiago.  If I could just smoke these two together, excellence would already be achieved. I could not help put sneak a pinch or two.  Heavenly aroma + delicate heartiness.  Who knew that was possible?

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Then I added lean ground turkey to the bowl.  Was that a tear I just shed.  Is this what love is?

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

My mind imagined the combinations of flavors in the finale.  Had I missed anything?  Savory? Check = mushrooms and Asiago. Sweet? Check = apple wood chips for the smoke and Asiago.  Bite?  Aw yes, in went finely diced green scallions.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Pat. Pat. Pat.  I patted and formed the ground turkey heavenly mixture.  Shake. Shake. Shake.  Salt and pepper. Done.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Into the Masterbuilt electric smoker this masterpiece went. Temperature lowered to 250 degrees.  Timer set for one hour.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

No need to rake up coals.  No need to watch the smoker constantly.  Absolutely no need to take out binoculars to monitor from the living room (talking to you Team Davidson).

One hour later.

Masterbuilt smoker 4th of July

Juicy yet tender.

Hearty yet delicate.

Smoky yet subtle.

Looks like a beef burger, acts like a beef burger, yet tender as the morning dew.

Perfection done.

Masterbuilt smoker

I am asking for your vote as the winner of the July 4th #virtual #cookoff against Team Arnold and Team Davidson.

I know you well.  You know me well.

We love food.

We love healthy and extremely delicious food.

We aren’t the ordinary.

Anyone can smoke a brisket.

Or ribs.

I wanted to enter this competition from a different angle.

I want to prove that a healthy non-traditional dish could out-win an ordinary over-done pork or beef product.

Help me prove it.

VOTE TEAM FULTZ

Oh, one more thing…

You know I am a good sport and believe in fairness.

Compare for yourself who out-smoked the competition.

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious. Then you savor it, analyze it, and discuss it with your companions, and you compare it with other experiences.” – Julia Child
